GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR MAKER DAYS VISITORS

Article 1: Applicability and Organization

These terms and conditions apply to every visitor of Maker Days, an event organized by Stichting Maker Days (Maker Days Foundation). By purchasing an admission ticket or entering the event premises, you expressly agree to the contents of these terms and conditions. These terms apply in full throughout your entire stay on the premises, including surrounding areas managed by the organization. Any deviations from these terms are only valid if agreed upon in writing in advance by Stichting Maker Days.

Article 2: Admission and Tickets

Every visitor must possess a valid admission ticket upon entry, which may be presented either digitally on a smartphone or in printed form. Stichting Maker Days reserves the right to request valid identification at the entrance or on the premises in order to verify the visitor’s identity.

Children up to and including the age of 13 may only enter under the active supervision of an adult. Visitors aged 13 and older may attend the event independently. Purchased tickets are strictly personal and cannot be exchanged for cash. It is also prohibited to resell admission tickets for commercial purposes or for profit.

Article 3: Cancellation and Ticket Refunds

Purchased admission tickets are strictly personal and final. Once an order has been completed, tickets cannot be returned, exchanged, or canceled. In accordance with Article 6:230p subsection e of the Dutch Civil Code, the statutory right of withdrawal (the 14-day cooling-off period) does not apply to agreements relating to leisure activities or events scheduled for a specific date or time.

If a visitor is unable to attend the event due to personal circumstances, illness, or other reasons, no refund of the ticket price or any service fees will be provided.

Article 4: House Rules and Conduct

Visitors must comply at all times with instructions given by the event staff and security personnel of Stichting Maker Days. We ask visitors to treat makers, staff, and fellow visitors with respect. To ensure safety, running, pushing, or blocking passageways is prohibited.

Waste must be disposed of in the designated bins. Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes and vapes, is strictly prohibited inside the event venues. Bringing weapons, dangerous objects, alcohol, or drugs onto the premises is not permitted. Pets are not allowed on the premises, with the exception of officially trained assistance dogs and guide dogs. Visitors are prohibited from entering restricted areas and backstage spaces.

Article 5: Interaction with Projects

Maker Days is an interactive event showcasing innovative installations, machines, and prototypes. Touching or operating these projects is only permitted when explicit permission has been granted by the relevant maker or exhibitor.

Parents and guardians bear full responsibility for the behavior and safety of minors under their supervision. Visitors must remain aware of their own safety; for example, loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair should be kept away from moving machinery. Stichting Maker Days reserves the right to intervene immediately and terminate any unsafe situation resulting from dangerous behavior.

Article 6: Specific Tools, Techniques, and Assumption of Risk

During Maker Days, visitors have the unique opportunity to experiment with advanced techniques and tools, including lasers, soldering irons, 3D printers, and other (electrical) equipment. The use of, interaction with, and presence near such equipment is entirely at the visitor’s own risk.

Visitors are required to strictly follow the specific safety instructions provided by makers or workshop supervisors. Where personal protective equipment (such as safety glasses or gloves) is required, visitors must wear it. Minors may only use such equipment under the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or the responsible exhibitor.

Stichting Maker Days accepts no liability for damage, burns, eye injuries, or any other form of physical injury resulting from the proper or improper use of these tools and techniques.

Article 7: Photography and Audio/Video Recordings

Taking photographs and videos for personal use and social media is permitted, provided that it does not disturb other visitors or interfere with presentations by makers. Flash photography may be prohibited for specific projects or presentations through clear signage. Professional or commercial media recordings are only permitted with prior written approval from the foundation.

During Maker Days, photographs and videos are taken by or on behalf of Stichting Maker Days for marketing, promotional, and atmosphere-related purposes. By attending the event, you agree that you may appear in such publications without compensation.

Article 8: Liability

Entry to the event premises and participation in activities and workshops are entirely at the visitor’s own risk. Stichting Maker Days is not liable for damage to, loss of, or theft of visitors’ personal belongings.

Furthermore, the foundation is not liable for personal injury resulting from a visitor’s negligence or failure to follow general or specific safety instructions. Visitors are legally liable for any damage they directly or indirectly cause to the property of Stichting Maker Days, the venue manager, makers, or other visitors.

Article 9: Cancellation and Force Majeure

Stichting Maker Days reserves the right to reschedule the event to another date or location, or to cancel the event entirely in cases of force majeure, extreme weather conditions, or emergencies.

If the event is permanently canceled, ticket holders are entitled to a refund of the original ticket price. Any service fees or transaction costs paid may not necessarily be refunded. Stichting Maker Days shall under no circumstances be responsible for reimbursing travel expenses, hotel accommodations, or any other indirect costs incurred by visitors.

Article 10: Complaints, Disputes, and Contact Information

Any complaints regarding your visit or the event should be reported immediately during the event at the central information desk so that the foundation can seek an appropriate solution. Complaints arising after the event must be submitted in writing, with reasons stated, within 14 days after the event via the contact details provided below.

These terms and conditions, as well as the agreement between the visitor and the organization, are governed exclusively by Dutch law. Any disputes shall be submitted exclusively to the competent Dutch court.
